ACLU v. NSA arguments in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals

From aclu.org/nsaspying: ACLU attorney Ann Beeson and clients in the ACLU v. NSA lawsuit after oral arguments at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. The ACLU argued the president broke the law by authorizing the National Security Agency to engage in warrantless eavesdropping of Americans’ phone calls. While the Bush administration recently said that he has received new authority for surveillance from a secret intelligence court, the President has said that he still has the power to ignore the law when he wants to. The ACLU asked the Sixth Circuit to require the President to comply with the law.

Ann Beeson, ACLU associate legal director and lead cousel in the case, is joined by ACLU clients and attorneys on the steps of the courthouse just after the oral arguments.

Oh, what a baby. You are sooo scared, that you want the government, who happened to fail to protect us on 9/11, to protect us by sacrificing privacy. If you are that needy, you are a baby and need a diaper a bottle and a crib so someone can take care of you and make sure the big, bad mean terrorists wont hurt you. Wake up, tiny man.

LaVeyan Satanism is basically a philosophy of indulgence. There is not Satan like the one depicted by Christianity. Satan is more an archetype in LaVeyan Satanism. Since I do indulge in lifes offerings, I am close to the philosophy. Feel free to pray till your hearts content, however.

DaveNJ, if political correctness destroys this country, it obviously has something more wrong with it than liberalism. Conservatives are not angels nor are they free from blame when it comes to Government and the people.

The LaVeyan Satan intentionally utilizes the Christian Satanic image to enhance the concept of indulgence, as it has been a Christian philosophy that indulgence is sin. Indulgence is the single greatest human experience as long as it is coupled with an important idea: cause and effect. This is where the philosophy can branch into more concentrated areas of magic and summoning which is where I draw the line. If you want to know more, just ask.

The ACLU defends the Bill of Rights. People with unpopular views have their rights violated more often. Those criticizing the ACLU for defending those rights don't grasp that it is everybody's liberty being defended by the ACLU. Read and study the Bill of Rights, 9th, 4th, and 14th Amendments, our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the history. There is a reason public officials must take an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. The ACLU does when they don't.

@jjrants It is you, sir, who are ignorant with respect to the ACLU. The ACLU does not sue for money. Their financing comes from donations, not lawsuits. They fight for everybody's right to speak, including the rights of ignoramuses such as yourself. They fight for everyone to have freedom of religion and to not have any one religion forced on people by the government. THE ACLU TAKES ALL ITS CASES "PRO BONO" and doesn't "rip off" money. Your comment was libelous. Be glad they don't sue for money.

My problem with the ACLU is that they act like witch hunters. They are so hell bent on saving illegal immigrants and stopping racism all in the name of P.C. but I have yet to see them supporting a legit cause for American Citizens. I think this video is the closest I have ever seen. I understand their purpose and see good reason but I think they abuse their position and bully people into doing what they want. People know the ACLU will run to their aid so they too take advantage.

@Darusdei Most people who use the ACLU only use it because they don't like a result so they claim it is racism or some such thing. Like the guy in prison who gives a crap if he gets mail at all he is in prison for murder and we should cater to him. He is already illegally here in the states on the tax payers dime and now we pay for his prison life and the ACLU defends that WTF!

Just because they do take up causes which you don't support personally does not make or not make them "witch hunters." Like it or not, ACLU is the only large organisation willing and able to take on important cases protecting our civil liberties. The number of small but important cases they take on each year is overwhelming. They don't get in the news but they are just as important taken in total.
